The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate the effects of swimming exercise term on serum lipid metabolism of cholesterol diet rats. Twenty-four male SD rats(6 weeks old) were randomly divided into control group and 2, 4, 6 weeks swimming exercise groups, and then swimming exercise groups swam unloaded for 6 weeks(7days/week, 30min/day) divided into 2 weeks swimming exercsie group, 4 weeks swimming exercise group and 6 weeks swimming exercise group. Analytical items were serum lipid components(TC, TG, PL, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C and TC/HDL-C ratio). All data were expressed as mean and standard deviation by using SPSS/PC+ program, and to evaluate the differences between groups, data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Duncan multiple range test(α=.05) was performed to test the significant levels of differences between groups.The conclusions obtained from this study were as follows;1. In total cholesterol, all 3 swimming exercise groups were significantly lower than control group(P<.001), and 4 weeks swimming exercise group were significantly lower than 2 weeks swimming exercise, and 6 weeks swimming exercise group were significantly lower than 4 weeks swimming exercise group(P<.001). 2. In triglyceride, all 3 swimming exercise groups were significantly lower than control group(P<.001), and 4 weeks and 6 weeks swimming exercise group were significantly lower than 2 weeks swimming exercise group(P<.001). 3. In phospholipid, all 3 swimming exercise groups were significantly lower than control group(P<.001), and 4 weeks swimming exercise group were significantly lower than 2 weeks swimming exercise, and 6 weeks swimming exercise group were significantly lower than 4 weeks swimming exercise group(P<.001). 1) 부산대학교609-735 부산광역시 금정구 장전동 산30번지 1.
