The purpose of this study was to analyze and examine the actual conditions of evaluation in physical education in the elementary school. The background and current situation were analyzed and future recommendations made. This paper attempted to discuss factors contributing to the circumstances and endeavor to imply possible solutions. 380 teachers and 300 students were sampled by questionnaire from the elementary schools of Kyungbuk Province and Daegu city. The data were analyzed by employing a Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyzed the data gathered for this study. The .05 level of significance was selected. The results of this study were as followings: 1. 63.4% teachers have made them based on their curriculum, courses and study they have covered. There were statistically significant difference by their gender, experience, academic carrier, school size, school year and workin area(p< .05). 2. 62.6% teachers expressed their evaluation by symbols or marks on their evaluation sheets and 24.7% teachers summarized by written expressions. There were statistically significant difference by academic carrier, the existence of teachers in charge, working area(p< .05). 3. For evaluation fields on students in physical education, the most preferred field of students were game. There were statistically significant difference by gender, school year(p< .05). 56.3% students loathed rhythm and expression movements most and their results were statistically significant difference gender, school year(p< .05).
