According to the EPR (extended producer responsibility) regulation on 2003, manufacturers and large retailers of consumer electronics should take responsibility of collection and recycling about disposed EOL (end-of-life) consumer electronics in South Korea. Under the EPR regulation, requests of the FVP (Freevisit-pickup) service for collecting EOL consumer electronics has been increasing continuously, so efficient operation of the FVP is very important in order to minimize the operation costs. This study identifies efficient conditions of the FVP service which can be accomplished by changing the pickup schedule under the characteristics of regional areas (population and disposed amount of EOL goods, etc.). Also, elimination of the existing specific option selecting desired time zone (morning or afternoon) and applying the optimal traveling route decision method with Genetic Algorithm can be identified for minimizing the total traveling distances comparing with actual field data. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that adoption of efficient conditions which are tested in this study for improving the efficiency of the FVP soon in the future.
