ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to suggest specific direction of research for art therapy as to parents of children with disability, analyzing the trend of published journals for 15 years, the trend examining the effect of the art therapy for parents of children with disabilities. The frequency analysis of all 57 journals were statistically conducted according to the year, the number of subjects, method, and contents, and the results were as follows. First, the trend showed that the number of published papers annually increases and that the most common way to study was mixed method study compromised 5 to 10 subjects. In addition, many researches adjusted experimental-control group design or single group design. Next, the subjects expressed preference for the treatment period which was 11 through 15 sessions and once a week for both individuals and group. The treatment time was 40 to 60 minutes for the individuals and 61 to 90 minutes for the groups. Lastly, the trends of study theme showed parenting stress, depression, and child-rearing attitude, self-efficacy, and maternal efficacy in the order. Most studies were conducted using objective measuring tools with the drawing projection test. The therapeutic technique mostly used for the studies was the mixed method, and collage and mandala were utilized in case of the single technique.
