ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to develop regional field learning area of geology units in elementary science. Among fourteen places of investigation, Seongsan Ilchulbong~Sinyang-ri formation, Seogwipo formation, Songaksan~ Yongmeori cliffs, and Suwolbong of Jeju-do were selected as suitable places for field experience learning, and analyzed the geological features. In those places can be observed the weathering by the sea, various strata, sedimentary rocks, and fossils. In addition, the places are formed by volcanic activity, it was considered on proper places to achieve the learning objective of geology units in curriculum. Also, it is to develop alternative learning materials for regional geology that can be observed the geological phenomenon, after it was compared and analyzed to pictures and learning contents of textbooks in four places. Because the geological phenomenon that be observed in this study is similar to pictures in geology units, it can be effective alternative field learning area. We proposed the educational direction that can be provided with specific learning materials to elementary school students by connecting field experience learning.
