AB - This research examines quantitative analyses on the Korean loanword adjectives. It also examines how these adjectives are used in Japanese. Moreover, it examines the common loanword adjectives of Korean and Japanese by semantic classification. It found that the use of loanword adjectives in Korean is a lot less common than the use of other types of adjectives. Further, these loanword adjectives are listed in the dictionary by percentage, which is below fifty percent. On the other hand, the adjectives of common Korean and Japanese loanwords exceeds 70 percent, meaning that almost all the loanword adjectives in Korean are also used in Japanese. These common loanword adjectives in Korean and Japanese appeared most in the class of “spirit” /“life,” “mind and act,” and in semantics. Most significantly, the loanword adjectives in the class of “life” are all included in the class of “culture/history/custom.”
