ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of leadership and organization structure on the job stress. Main variables in this study are consideration, initiating structure, centralization, formalization, specialization, organic structure, and job stress. The variables are measured by Likert 5-point scale. The data used in this study is collected by questionnaire survey in Gwangju's 30 medium-small company. The sample size used in statistic analysis is 156 units. The effects of leadership,organizational structure, and interaction between leadership and organizational structure on the job stress are testified by multiple regression analysis. Results presented in this research show statistically significant positive relationship between initiating structure leadership and job stress. These also show statistically significant positive relationship between formalization, centralization and job stress. Interaction between consideration leadership and specialization shows statistically significant negative effect on the job stress. Interaction between consideration leadership and organic structure shows statistically significant positive effect on the job stress. The conclusion is as follows. First, more initiating structure leadership, formalization and centralization in medium-small company may lead to organization member's much job stress. Second, consideration leadership with specialization may reduce organization member's job stress.
