ABSTRACT

Selecting and organizing curricular contents are critically important, in order to achieve the main purpose of moral subject matter education for the elementary and secondary levels. This article focuses on a critical analysis on "expanding value relations" as the newly developed principle of content organization for moral education curriculum in the 2007 revised national curriculum. For the purpose, this article examines the theoretical foundations and historical changes of content organization in the moral education curriculum, and then, discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the new principle in organizing contents and investigates strategies to overcome the weaknesses.
