ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to explain and interpret 'The Woman' in contemporary China. The approach would be the philosophical categories-epistemology, ontology and value theory. The concrete study method would have the two dimensions-the comparison methods with the Western philosophies and Chinese inner meanings methods with the ancient Chinese traditional thought and philosophical way. I would focus the meanings of Woman in Chinese historical and cultural contexts. With the Woman theme, we would think philosophically the concepts of modernization, rationalization and characterization. The contexts of woman philosophy in China were established through the characterized value world and recognized cognitive system of Chinese history, ideology and life style. The present condition of woman philosophy in contemporary China is in flux situation. The multiple value system, independent society would be the future woman philosophy tendencies with the value compromise between Chinese and Western thought.
