ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to analyze the validity of the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test (REVT). To verify the validity of the test materials, the appropriateness of the vocabulary and figures was evaluated by speech language pathology related experts. Additionally, to determine whether the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test tools can distinguish differences in vocabulary proficiency between normal children and children with language developmental delay, the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test was performed targeting normal children and children with language developmental delay of the same chronological age and gender. Lastly, concurrent validity was verified by performing PPVT-K, K-BNT-C, and the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test targeting normal children and children with language developmental delay. The results obtained in the present study were as follows. First, the contents validity evaluation showed that an average score of 3.57 was obtained out of 5. Second, the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test showed differences between the groups of normal children and children with language developmental delay. Third, the REVT-R scores were highly correlated with the PPVT-K. Forth, the REVT-E scores were highly correlated with the K-BNT-C. The results from this study suggest that the Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary Test (REVT) is valid.
